The Raft of the Medusa (Part Two)

After a difficult night, I finally arrived at the station early the next day. Looking at the subway map in confusion, wondering where to go next? Should I go to places I've been before?

In the end, I got off at People's Square. There's a cheap youth hostel here. Only after checking in did I realize why accommodation can be as cheap as 55 yuan a day. The less than 100-square-foot room was crammed with eight beds, with a faint smell of smoke in the air, making the no-smoking signs on the wall pale in comparison. My personal space was limited to just one bed. How should I put it? It felt more cramped than a six-person dorm room at school. 😅

The environment of this hostel pushed me to find a suitable job quickly. I asked the front desk girl and a roommate in the dorm. Due to the epidemic, everyone felt that it's hard to find a good job this year. Also, because of the rain, nobody went out to look for one. After spending the afternoon browsing Boss Zhipin, I finally found a short-term job that includes accommodation. I immediately went for an interview at a company 12 kilometers away. I didn't encounter any of the pitfalls mentioned online, everything went quite smoothly. I was asked to attend a three-day free paid training the day after tomorrow. If all goes well, this job is secure. It's a sales customer service job with a salary of 3000, including accommodation and business commissions. It's barely acceptable, better than nothing. 😅

I've temporarily settled down. Had a bowl of Chongqing noodles for dinner, 14 yuan per bowl, the cheapest noodles in the noodle shop. Life feels cramped, I ate quietly with my head down. After crossing several streets, I finally found a convenience store. Bought a chicken breast, a set of toothbrush and toothpaste, a box, a bottle of cola, a bottle of shower gel, and a pork bun for 50 yuan.

Back at the dorm, I asked about my roommates' jobs. Some work night shifts at the hotel front desk, the boss said they can sleep as they please, only work half a month a month, all night shifts, earning 3000.

There are also those who live here after failed entrepreneurship, and those who work as small actors. They look handsome and capable, but unfortunately, they haven't made it yet.

I've also met people who are just here to have fun, with messy hair, wearing flip-flops. I really can't understand how they can have fun staying in such a small hotel?

I asked the front desk girl for her WeChat. She's very pretty, with bright eyes. Unfortunately, she didn't reply promptly to my messages several times, and it seems like she's not interested in continuing our conversation.

There's one more thing, Qiqi asked me to visit her, she sent me the address to her place. I might have been too cautious, I declined her invitation again. She directly deleted me, and now I regret it a bit, but she's not responding to me anymore. 😔
